Sandstone Lakes Property Owners Association ("SSLPOA") or its designee is responsible for Lake Rules and Regulations enforcement.
PRIVATE BEACHES
Please do not leave loose items like chairs, umbrellas, beach toys, etc. on your beach when they are not in use. Sporadic rain storms have the potential to blow these items into the lake at any given time.
BOATING/SKIING/SWIMMING/FISHING
Use of the lake within the subdivision is limited to the following:
Canoes, Pirogues, Jet-Skis, watercraft powered by electric motors, pontoon boats/party barges not exceeding 20' in length and powered by no more than 150 horsepower four (4) stroke engine are permitted. Each boat used on any lake must at all times have a current sticker from the Association which will only be issued to owners who provide proof of ownership and proof of current liability insurance in an amount of at least $50,000.00.
Boat launches may only be used by properly permitted owners with watercraft bearing current stickers (or a guest pass). DO NOT leave your VEHICLE and TRAILER on the BOAT LAUNCH after launching.
Owners or their guests/invitees who fail to exercise or extend normal courtesies to other boaters or who operate watercraft while drunk or cause wakes or waves which swamp or endanger other boaters or erode the banks of lots or damage piers are subject to the suspension of their privilege to use the lakes, it being understood that use of the lakes is a privilege which can be forfeited.
Lakes in future phases shall not be used by and are strictly off limits to property owners and/or their guests. Use of the lake is limited to Sandstone Lakes Phase I property owners who are in good standing with the Sandstone Lakes Property Owners' Association (SLPOA) and who have been legally dedicated the right to the use of the lake by covenants. It will be the responsibility of each property owner to abide by and enforce the Lake Rules for their family and guests. Property owners are liable and responsible for the conduct and actions of their family and guest. The property owner is responsible for any fine(s) incurred by their guest for violations of Lake or Fishing Rules. All fines levied are due within thirty (30) days of notification.
All property owners’ boats (powered and non-powered) used in the lake shall be registered with the SLPOA and shall display a current SSL Boat Sticker.
A permanent sticker can be revoked by SSLPOA and the watercraft will be banned on the lake until reinstated by the SSLPOA.
Property owners in good standing with the SLPOA are eligible for access to the boat launch. Loaning or transferring this access to anyone launching illegally is prohibited and can result in the property owner forfeiting their access for a season.
Each property owner in good standing with the SLPOA will be limited to one guest pass per day for any authorized, motorized watercraft. No guest jet skis, wave runners or other similar personal watercraft will be allowed. Guest watercraft must be registered with the SLPOA and guest must provide proof of liability insurance.
Guest watercraft may be operated only when the property owner is present in the boat or when the bottom portion of the guest temporary pass is signed and dated by the property owner and he/she is present within SSLPOA property.
All watercraft on the lake are subject to the Louisiana State Laws governing watercraft on Louisiana waters and the SSLPOA Rules.
There will be NO boating activity on the lake during the period between sunset and sunrise, including skiing or personal watercraft (jet skis, wave runners, etc.) and boats or party barges of any kind.
No person under the age of 16 shall operate a motorized watercraft unless accompanied by an adult. Anyone operating a motorized watercraft on the lake must be wearing a life jacket.
No person shall operate a watercraft in a reckless or unsafe manner.
No watercraft racing is allowed.
No person shall operate any watercraft while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No person shall operate any watercraft so as to approach or pass another watercraft in such a manner or at such a rate of speed as to create a hazardous wake or wash.
Non-motorized watercraft shall have the right of way over powered watercraft.
Only single engine watercraft is allowed on the lake.
No air-boats are allowed on the lake at any time.
No watercraft with horsepower exceeding 150 horsepower with (4) stroke engine is allowed.
No watercraft with open exhausts is allowed.
No watercraft shall exceed 20 ft (except pontoon boats).
Motorized watercraft traveling in excess of idle speed shall not operate closer than 50 feet from shore.
All watercraft within 50 ft of shore shall operate at idle speed and shall move continuously past each homeowner’s property.
No watercraft (unless disabled) shall be anchored or remain motionless within 50 ft of a homeowner’s shoreline.
Buoys must not be placed more than 50 ft from the shoreline.
Placement of movable or non-movable objects in the lake is prohibited unless approved by the Developer.
Filling in the lake beyond an owner’s property line is prohibited.
Dumping of chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. in the lake is prohibited unless approved by the Developer.
Throwing trash, cans, bottles, seafood shells, etc. into the lake is prohibited.
Harassment of any and all wildlife is prohibited.
The lake level is to be controlled by the Developer.
SKIING
In addition to the boat operator, a boat towing skiers, tubers, etc. must have another person (at least 10 yrs of age) in a position to observe persons being towed, unless a rear view mirror has been installed so the operator can also be an observer.
Motorized watercraft traveling in excess of idle speed shall not operate closer than 50 ft from shore.
All watercraft within 50 ft of shore shall operate at idle speed and shall move continuously past each homeowner’s property.
No watercraft (unless disabled) shall be anchored or remain motionless within 50 ft of a homeowner’s shoreline.
No person shall operate a watercraft in a reckless or unsafe manner.
SWIMMING
All swimmers must stay within 50 ft from shore unless accompanied by a watercraft within 25 ft of swimmer.
FISHING RULES
1. Only those property owners (and their guests) in good standing with the SLPOA are allowed to fish the lake.
2. Fishing licenses are not required for property owners or their guests.
3. Guest fishing is allowed only when the property owner is present on the common areas or in their guest’s boat.
4. When fishing behind homes, you should keep your boat moving as per Lake Rules. Please respect the privacy of your neighbors.
5. The occupants of each boat from which fishing is conducted can keep a total of five (5) fish caught in any 24-hour period. Only bass which measure between the slot of 10-14" may be kept. Others must be released.
6. Use of seines, trout lines and slat traps is forbidden. Jug fishing is allowed with dead bait only and a limit of 10 jugs per boat. Jugs must be attended at all times.
7. Cast nets can be used to catch bait only.
